RAMPAGE CAPTAIN SEASON ENDS WITH KNEE SURGERY:

RAMPAGE CAPTAIN SEASON ENDS WITH KNEE SURGERY:

This past tournament in Bowmanville saw the championship series get chippy and rough once the team took a two game lead in the finals which was a best 3 of 5 series.

Our captain #98 Shane Hanson was leading the charge with 2 goals and 2 assists in just 2 games. In the third game of the finals when the team was looking for the sweep, Shane took a bad slash to the back of the knee.
This put the captain on the bench for the remainder of game 3 and all of game 4. He tried to make a effort to play in game 5 but it was a tough task for him and everyone could tell he was in pain.

Once the tournament ended x-rays show that the three pins he has in his knee already, two of them shifted and was the cause for all the pain. Shane need to have surgery this week to repair the moved pins and then a long road to recovery.

It's hard to tell if he will be ready to start the 2016 season but he will definitely miss the remaining two tournaments of the season. We wish him all the best this week and hope he has a fast recovery.

Great Year Cappy! You played in less games then everyone yet you are one of the point leaders on the team!

HWY. 401 CHAMPIONSHIP CHARITY SERIES TOURNAMENT TURNS OUT OF CONTROL:

HWY. 401 CHAMPIONSHIP CHARITY SERIES TOURNAMENT TURNS OUT OF CONTROL:

The Rampage woke up to a cloudy dark morning but still hit the road to Bowmanville to play in a charity championship series.

The tournament started of with both teams relaxed and smiling and both teams participated in a friendly charity competition. Each team played a 5on3 power play and for every goal scored $5.00 extra was donated to the cause.

The tournament started shortly after the competition ended. The team opened things up winning the first two game with a score of 3-1. Captain Shane Hanson had a strong two games leading the way with 2 goals and 2 assists while being very vocal on the bench.

Game 3 and 4 saw our boys lose both game 2-1 and saw the series get tied up at 2 wins each, forcing a game 5 to settle things. The team just ran out of gas by this time and couldn't find the back of the net considering they out chanced and shot the Red wings.

These two losses came as a result to not scoring and playing sound defense but largely because the owner/ref allowed things to get out of hand. In game 3 a Red Wing player ripped a stick from one of our Rampage players and threw it like a spear at our goalie Mikey Drew. Our captain took a two handed slash that was not seen/called and finally fast whistles sometimes and no whistles when they were needed.

The calls and things that were going on were so bad, fans watching were yelling at the ref/owner to be more involved and actually move with the play of the game instead of sitting at center all the time.

These issues resulted in both teams losing their tempers on each other with fights ending up as a result to things. Game #5 was halted at a 1-1 tie just before OT. Both teams were losing it on the owner/ref and both our captain and the Red Wings captain decided to shake hands, quit the game despite the owner and split the prizes.

The class act shown by both captains saved the tournament and made it somewhat worth the trip instead of the disaster it turned into. All in all the Rampage players fought hard and made us proud. Only time will tell if the Rampage decide to ever play in this league again in the future.
